Approved: the Former MK in Likud will be Appointed Ambassador to Ethiopia

The government today approved the appointments of 21 ambassadors appointed by a committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among the ambassadors can be found the former member of the Knesset, Dr. Avraham Neguise, for the position of Israel's ambassador to Ethiopia.

In the midst of the war, the government today (Sunday) approved the appointments of 21 heads of representations, of which 20 are ambassadors appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Supreme Appointments Committee. Among the ambassadors can be found the former member of the Knesset, Dr. Avraham Neguise, for the position of Israel's ambassador to Ethiopia.

Neguise, served as MK between 2015 and 2019, and also served as chairman of the Absorption and Diaspora Committee. He immigrated to Israel in 1985 as part of Operation Moshe and served as the chairman of the representative organization of Ethiopian immigrants in Israel for many years.

During his position as MK, Neguise was active in the integration of Ethiopian immigrants into religious state education, fighting in the community and the establishment for religious education and especially for the absorption of thousands of immigrant children in high school yeshivas and Ulpanot.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said about the appointment of the ambassadors: "I congratulate the ambassadors and heads of representations of Israel around the world who were approved today at the cabinet meeting. These ambassadors are the spearhead of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and they are the ones who will represent the State of Israel and its citizens, promote the economy and strengthen international support of the state of Israel.

"I wish all the heads of representations whose appointments were confirmed today great success in their mission. Your success is our success."

In addition to Dr. Neguise appointed ambassador to Ethiopia, these are the other names of the appointments: Mr. Reuven Ezer, ambassador to India and non-resident ambassador to Bhutan and Sri Lanka, Mr. Tzvi Aviner-Vafni, ambassador to Spain and non-resident ambassador to Andorra, Mr. Daniel Maron, ambassador to the UN institutions in Geneva.

Mr. Yonatan Peled, Ambassador to Hungary, Mr. Boaz Rudkin, Ambassador to Finland and Non-Resident Ambassador to Estonia, Mr. Yaron Zidman, Ambassador to the Vatican, Mr. Shai Cohen, Ambassador to the International Organizations in Paris, Mrs. Sandra Simowitz, Ambassador to Latvia, Mrs. Avivit Bar Ilan, Ambassador to Serbia and non-resident ambassador to Montenegro.

Mr. Uri Rothman, Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Raphael Harpaz, Ambassador to Korea, Mr. Gideon Lustig, Ambassador to Uzbekistan and Non-Resident Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Alon Lavie, Ambassador to South Africa and Non-Resident Ambassador to Mauritius, Lesotho, and Madagascar.
