Watch: IDF deepens operations in eastern Rafah

The 401st Brigade's combat team, operating under the 162nd Division, continues to advance in eastern Rafah.

Thus far, the soldiers have eliminated some 50 terrorists and identified dozens of tunnels, which are now being slated for destruction. They have also identified hundreds of terrorist infrastructures, including weapons manufacturing locations and rocket launch sites.

"We have begun the attack on the (Hamas) Rafah Brigade, whose aim is the elimination and dismantlement of the brigade of its capabilities," said Lt.-Col. Daniel, commander of the 52nd Battalion, "we are presently in the first stage - destroying what's underground. We will do every mission we will need in order to destroy the brigade. We are doing everything to create the conditions for the return of the hostages home."
