The legal proceedings following the brutal killing of Yimanu Zalka reached a critical milestone today as the Central District Prosecutor's Office finalized the indictment against the primary suspect. A 15-year-old boy will be charged on Sunday with second-degree murder, categorized as murder through indifference. While this is a lower charge than "murder under aggravating circumstances," legal experts confirmed to the grieving family that the court still retains the authority to impose a life sentence.

The decision to charge the teenager with murder through indifference stems from a lack of evidence regarding prior planning. Prosecutors believe the stabbing occurred during a spontaneous eruption of violence rather than a premeditated plot. Alongside the primary suspect, thirteen other teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 will face charges of aggravated assault with intent. Three of these minors have already been released to house arrest, while the state seeks to keep the remaining ten in custody.

Evidence in the case is bolstered by a stunning confession from one of the central suspects, who was identified in security footage by his hoodie and religious garments. During a high-pressure interrogation, the suspect initially dismissed the evidence before admitting his role in the attack. "Yes, well, that's me, what do you want?" he reportedly told investigators. He attempted to justify the assault as self-defense, claiming that Zalka had spoken rudely and allegedly struck him first.

The fatal encounter began on Israel's Independence Day when Zalka, who was working as a shift manager at a local Pizza Hut, asked the group of teenagers to stop spraying snow foam inside the restaurant. According to the investigation, the group felt slighted by the request and waited for Zalka to finish his shift. Once he stepped outside, they allegedly ambushed him, raining down punches and kicks before the fatal blade was drawn and used to end the 21-year-old's life.

Security footage of the event depicts a horrifying scene where the teens push and beat Zalka before he is stabbed. In the aftermath, Zalka is seen struggling to stand as a large pool of blood forms around him on the sidewalk. The investigation also identified the specific minor who allegedly held the knife used in the killing, which had been passed to him by another child in the group just moments before the confrontation.

The case has sent shockwaves through the city of Petah Tikva and the wider Israeli public, raising painful questions about youth violence and the lack of human empathy displayed by the bystanders. The Zalka family, while devastated by the loss, is closely following the legal process in hopes of a conviction that reflects the gravity of the crime. The formal indictments will be submitted to the District Court on Sunday, marking the beginning of what is expected to be a long and emotional trial.
