A 64-year-old resident of Kiryat Gat was hospitalized with serious head injuries after being attacked by two teenagers on a main street yesterday evening.

The victim stopped his car to tell the youths to use a nearby pedestrian crossing. The verbal exchange quickly escalated into violence. When he exited his vehicle, the teenagers beat him repeatedly, causing him to collapse. They continued kicking him in the head and body as he lay on the pavement before fleeing the scene.

Police arrested the two suspects, both minors and city residents, shortly after the attack. They will be brought before Magistrate's Court today for a detention extension hearing.

Kiryat Gat police commander Chief Superintendent Shai Alali said officers responded immediately and that the Israel Police treats street violence with utmost seriousness.
