Attempted Stabbing Foiled Near Hebron; assailant neutalized

An attempted stabbing attack was thwarted Friday afternoon near the Israeli community of Shim'a in the South Hebron Hills region, according to the IDF and United Hatzalah of Judea and Samaria. A Palestinian assailant armed with a knife approached a security point near the Judea Brigade’s sector and attempted to carry out a stabbing. A soldier from the regional security unit (gmar) stationed at the scene opened fire and neutralized the attacker. No Israeli injuries were reported. IDF Spokesperson Effie Defrin confirmed the details: “A terrorist armed with a knife attempted to carry out a stabbing attack near the community of Shim'a. A gmar soldier at the scene fired at the terrorist and neutralized him. There are no casualties among our forces.” The incident occurred near the Yehuda Farm outpost, south of Hebron, an area that has seen increased tensions in recent weeks.
