Family of Jewish Teen Shot by Border Police Officer Shares Update

The family of the Jewish teenager who was shot earlier today by a Border Police officer has issued a sobering update from the hospital regarding his condition. According to the statement, the teen sustained a gunshot wound with an entry point on the lower left side of his back. The bullet traveled upward, lodging in his left shoulder, while inflicting severe internal damage along the way. Doctors report that multiple vertebrae were crushed, and there is a suspected complete fracture in one of them. Additionally, lung tissue was damaged, necessitating close respiratory monitoring. The youth is scheduled to be transferred overnight to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center for surgery early Wednesday morning. The procedure will aim to clean the gunshot wound and attempt to remove fragments left by the bullet. Despite the extensive injuries, the teen is fully conscious and, in what the family described as “a great miracle,” is able to move his legs. “It’s still too early to know the long-term consequences,” the family said. “We need your prayers and we must surround ourselves with love.”
