Arab parties' goal beyond toppling govt

Eliraz Sade warns that Arab parties aim to bring down any Jewish-led government, as Hadash-Ta'al chair says ending current coalition is top priority

i24 host Eliraz Sade warned Sunday that the current Arab parties are working to bring down Israel's government regardless of who leads it. "The current Arab parties want to topple the Jewish government, no matter which government it will be," he said.

This comment comes a day after Yair Golan, head of the Democrats party, told Channel 12 that he supports forming a government with Ra'am and called party leader Mansour Abbas "a good partner."

"You mentioned Mansour Abbas," Golan said in the interview. "Mansour Abbas was a good partner in the 24th Knesset, he was a good partner in that government. I think Naftali Bennett can testify to that firsthand as someone who was prime minister, Avigdor Liberman knows it well."

Earlier Sunday, Hadash-Ta'al chair Dr. Youssef Jabareen laid out his party's most urgent task, making clear that ending the current government's term stands at the top of the priority list. In his remarks, Jabareen stressed that for him it is not merely about replacing individuals, but about demanding a fundamental policy shift.

"We in Hadash-Ta'al, at the top of our priority scale, want this government not to continue for another term. This is a bad and dangerous government," Jabareen said. At the same time, he added: "I don't just want to replace one person with another, changing the man is not the idea. I hope that the alternative that comes will have the courage to talk about things, to advance an egalitarian state, peace with the Palestinians, and to return to the negotiation track with international support and sponsorship."

Last week, the High Court comprehensively rejected all disqualifications of Arab lists for the Knesset that had been approved by the Central Elections Committee, despite the far-reaching positions and statements of many of their members.
