IDF detains Israeli civilians who crossed into Syria near Majdal Shams
The IDF detained several Israeli civilians who crossed into Syrian territory near Majdal Shams on Thursday and Friday. IDF troops searched the area Thursday, located the civilians Friday morning, and transferred them to Israeli police. In additional incidents Friday, IDF forces prevented other civilians from attempting to cross the border in the southern Golan Heights. The IDF says it has identified an increase in such incidents, which divert troops from operational activities and compromise security. The IDF strongly condemns the actions as criminal offenses that endanger civilians and soldiers, calling on law enforcement to prosecute those involved.
