IDF eliminates Hamas commander involved in holding seven Israeli hostages

The IDF struck in the Gaza City area over the weekend and eliminated Mahmoud Abd al-Fattah Awad, a commander in Hamas' military wing. Throughout the war, Awad took part in holding seven Israeli civilians hostage—Daniella Gilboa, Karina Ariev, Doron Steinbrecher, Naama Levy, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, and Eitan Mor—in an underground tunnel in the Gaza City area. Recently, he planned and advanced terror attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians and worked to restore Hamas' capabilities in systematic violation of the ceasefire. He was eliminated from the air to remove the threat he posed. Steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
