IDF strikes Iran's Arak heavy water plant after identifying reconstruction attempts

The Israeli Air Force struck the heavy water plant in Arak, central Iran, following intelligence indicating reconstruction attempts by the Iranian regime. Heavy water is used to operate nuclear reactors, and the Arak reactor was originally designed with weapons-grade plutonium production capabilities. The IDF says the plant was first struck during Operation 'Rising Lion', and repeated reconstruction efforts have since been identified. The facility generated tens of millions of dollars annually for Iran's Atomic Energy Organization. The IDF states Iran has avoided completing reactor conversion commitments under the nuclear agreement that would prevent weapons-grade plutonium production.
