Iran executes two protesters detained during January demonstrations in Isfahan

Two men detained during January protests in Isfahan were executed early this morning by Iranian authorities. Amir Hossein Safari and Abdolfazl Safahi were convicted of killing police officers during riots at Ali Khani Square in Isfahan. Citizens gathered overnight at the execution site where cranes and nooses had been erected, chanting "Shame, shame" against the regime. Iranian police dispersed the crowd using gas and gunfire, though no casualties were reported. The families of the executed men wept during the proceedings.
