Iran launches missile attack on US airbase in Jordan, strikes ships in Hormuz Strait
Iran fired 5-6 ballistic missiles from Lorestan Province toward the Muwaffaq Salti Airbase in Jordan, ending six days of calm between the US and Iran. The US military stated all missiles were intercepted, while Jordan's military reported five successful interceptions. Iran's Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility, stating the attack was "in response to aggressive actions carried out by the US military" and warned that "as long as the threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue, and as long as the illegal and hostile actions carried out by American forces against our interests persist—the resistance will also continue." Separately, Iran claimed responsibility for firing at three ships in the Strait of Hormuz after they allegedly "attempted to cross via an illegal route," forcing the vessels to halt.
