Israeli Energy Minister proposes Saudi-Israel oil pipeline to bypass Iranian-controlled straits
Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen outlined a vision for a land-based oil pipeline from Gulf states through Israel to the Mediterranean, enabling oil exports to Europe while bypassing the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab. Cohen stated the infrastructure could be operational in four to five years, arguing it would eliminate Iran's ability to use these waterways as leverage. "Saudi Arabia needs peace with the State of Israel much more than we need peace with Saudi Arabia," Cohen said. He also warned against Turkish military expansion in Syria, stating Israel would establish its own bases there if Turkey does so.
