Israeli Official Warns of Second Round Against Hezbollah

A senior Israeli political source has warned that a second round of fighting between the IDF and Hezbollah in Lebanon may be on the horizon, citing the “new reality” in the country, which has failed to meet Israel’s expectations regarding the disarmament of the Iranian-backed group. According to the IDF, Hezbollah activity has significantly decreased in the area between the Litani River and the Israeli border — the zone designated by UN Resolution 1701 as off-limits to armed militants. However, military officials note a renewed buildup of Hezbollah forces in other regions, particularly in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, raising concerns of a potential new escalation.
