After Prolonged Legal Battle

Shuli Rand Announces Divorce Finalized

The musician issued a formal statement confirming he has granted a religious divorce to his first wife Michal, ending a protracted public and legal conflict

Israeli singer and composer Shuli Rand announced Tuesday on his Instagram account that he has completed divorce proceedings from his first wife, Michal. "With G-d's kindness and at a good hour, after ups and downs I gave a get [Jewish divorce], and Michal received it with dignity and goodwill," Rand wrote. "And may truth and peace be beloved."

The announcement marks the formal conclusion of a lengthy and complex chapter in the lives of the couple, who were married for decades and raised seven children together. In recent years, the conflict between them became the focus of a public and legal battle that included mutual accusations and serious claims.

The dispute drew significant public attention after Rand married media personality Tzofit Grant in 2021, following a halachic permit he received from rabbis, while divorce proceedings from Michal had not yet been formally completed. Since then, the battle between the parties continued, with Grant herself frequently finding herself at the center of public criticism.

Over the years, Michal claimed that Shuli did not maintain consistent contact with some of their children and did not provide them with financial support, including for medical expenses. Simultaneously, she demanded to formally complete the divorce and receive funds she claimed were owed to her as part of the legal proceedings and a business the couple had operated during their marriage.

Several days ago, the two arrived together at the rabbinical court to formally complete the divorce proceedings. They were photographed entering the rabbinical court, in a meeting that marked the end of a long and complicated chapter in their lives.

Recently, Grant addressed the criticism she and her husband faced following the conflict. In an interview she gave, she shared about the difficult period she experienced and the health and emotional crisis she endured over the past three years, as she dealt with severe family trauma and an urgent cardiac catheterization.

Now, with the formal proceedings concluded, it appears both parties can open a new chapter in their lives. Rand's announcement, worded in moderate and respectful language, expresses a desire to close the painful chapter and move forward.
