Israeli-Ukrainian citizen detained at border, assigned to Ukrainian military unit

Yonatan Karlinsky, 49, from Beitar Illit was detained at the Romania-Ukraine border approximately ten days ago after traveling to Uman for Rosh Hashanah. The Breslov chassid, who holds both Israeli and Ukrainian citizenship, is being held at a detention facility near Odessa. He will be assigned as a doctor to a military unit near Kharkiv, away from the front line, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine reported. Ukrainian authorities state he is obligated to serve.
