Katz: Chief Military Prosecutor Will Not Return to Her Post

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that Chief Military Prosecutor Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi will not be returning to her role, citing the gravity of the allegations and the sensitivity of the position, which oversees law enforcement and sets legal standards across the IDF. Katz stated he will ensure that those involved in the so-called “blood libel” against IDF soldiers in the Shde Tamman affair are held accountable. An acting Chief Military Prosecutor will be appointed in the interim, and Katz intends to initiate the process to select a permanent successor as soon as possible. Under Israeli law, the appointment of the Chief Military Prosecutor is made by the Defense Minister following the recommendation of the IDF Chief of Staff.
