An unusual incident along Israel’s northern border nearly ended in tragedy last night, i24NEWS has learned. Three IDF soldiers, dressed in civilian clothes, left the Dovev outpost near the Lebanese border for a fitness run along the security fence—armed, but without notifying their commanders. Observation posts in the area identified the men as suspected infiltrators, prompting the activation of heavy firepower and the deployment of multiple units, including a drone and three tanks, to neutralize what was believed to be a terrorist infiltration. The confusion deepened when the soldiers, alerted to what they thought was an emergency at their base, sprinted toward the guard post to assist—only to be recognized by their commander as the supposed “infiltrators” themselves. The IDF confirmed the details and said the incident is under formal investigation. “Several soldiers who went on a fitness run outside a northern outpost were mistakenly identified as suspects. The outpost reinforced its positions according to protocol. The incident is under review,” an IDF spokesperson said.
