Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a final statement to Likud party members on the eve of the party's primary election, declaring his confidence that voters will select a strong slate of candidates while explicitly stating he will not interfere in the process.
In his message, Netanyahu urged party members to vote thoughtfully and support a list that would prevent what he characterized as a narrow left-wing government. "I will vote tomorrow in the Likud primary for a winning list that will ensure that Eisenkot and Yair Golan do not form a narrow government with the Arab parties as they have promised," the prime minister said, referring to opposition figures Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan.
Expressing trust in the party's registered voters, Netanyahu added: "I rely on you, Likud members, to choose your representatives correctly according to your own judgment."
He concluded by making clear he would not attempt to shape the outcome at the last minute: "I am not intervening in the national list, and I wish everyone good luck!"
