Reserve Officer Dismissed After Refusing Risky Gaza Mission

A reserve captain in the IDF was dismissed from his unit after refusing to carry out a dangerous mission in the southern Gaza Strip without armored protection, according to a report by Yoav Zeitoun. The officer, a retired captain called up for reserve duty, was ordered to conduct a “route opening” patrol along the Morag corridor—an area frequently targeted by terror groups. The mission aimed to ensure no explosives had been planted overnight, but he was reportedly assigned open-topped, unarmored vehicles for the task. His refusal came just days after two soldiers were killed on a similar mission under comparable conditions. Despite his concerns, the IDF stated unequivocally: “He was dismissed for refusing an order.”
