Russian strike kills captain of Turkish-owned cargo ship in Black Sea
A drone attack killed the captain of a vessel carrying corn in the Black Sea, with another sailor unaccounted for, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Eleven crew members from Azerbaijan and India were rescued. Romania mounted a rescue operation after the Turkish-owned ship Royad Mammadov caught fire and sank about 30 nautical miles south of Sfantu Gheorghe port. Zelensky condemned the "horrific" strike on a civilian vessel in neutral waters. Russia's defense ministry earlier said it had struck two cargo vessels, part of intensified attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure in retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries.
