Saudi Arabia preparing naval and possible ground operation against Houthis
Saudi Arabia is preparing for a large-scale military operation against the Houthis, initially in the naval arena and possibly including a ground assault in central Yemen, according to The Guardian citing Yemeni sources. The operation aims to break the Houthi siege on Saudi oil exports through the southern Red Sea. Yemeni sources report a withdrawal of Saudi forces from eastern Yemen, potentially indicating preparations for a ground offensive. Saudi Arabia is establishing an international naval coalition to protect shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait from Houthi attacks, with 14 countries joining so far, including Egypt and Turkey.
