Stalled Hostage Talks Prompt Cairo to Urge U.S. Intervention

Negotiations over the return of Israeli hostages are trapped in a “vicious cycle,” according to a report Monday in the Lebanese daily *Al-Akhbar*. Egyptian sources described the atmosphere as increasingly tense, marked by frustration and a deepening crisis of trust between the parties. In response, Cairo has reportedly initiated direct contact with the Trump administration, urging urgent intervention to pressure Israel into easing restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza. So far, however, Egyptian officials say there has been no meaningful response from Washington.
