Caesarea Mafia Killing: Suspect Silent in Murder Probe

Detectives from the Central Unit of Israel's Coastal District Police are conducting a complex investigation into the killing of Yanis Yoshvaev, head of the Caucasian mafia organization, who was shot dead last week outside a restaurant at a gas station near the entrance to Caesarea.

The shooter, wearing a hooded sweatshirt on a hot summer day, passed by the group without arousing suspicion, turned on his heels, drew a pistol and fired two precise shots to Yoshvaev's head. He then fled the scene on foot while pointing his weapon at one of the escorts without firing. Professional analysis of the surveillance footage indicates an exceptionally high level of planning and professionalism.

Shortly afterward, the suspect was arrested in a targeted operation by special police forces while hiding in a storage room in a residential building in Hadera, a city south of Caesarea. The dramatic arrest in the Hadera storage facility caused considerable alarm among residents, who were unaware that a suspect in a complex murder case was hiding near them. The investigation revealed that a short time after the killing, the suspect arrived at a business near his hiding place and purchased coffee as if going about a normal routine.
