Trump signs law imposing new sanctions on Iran and Russia

President Trump signed legislation named after Lindsey Graham imposing new sanctions on Iran and Russia. The law includes sanctions on Putin, oligarchs, banks, and companies in Russia's energy and defense sectors, as well as on the "shadow fleet" of Russian oil tankers. It authorizes tariffs up to 100% on goods from major Russian oil and gas purchasers, primarily China and India, and tariffs up to 500% on direct Russian imports. The law extends sanctions on Iran's energy and weapons sectors by five years. The President retains authority to postpone or cancel implementation of any measures.
