Trump Suggests "Ruthless" Approach to Hostage Crisis
U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the ongoing hostage situation in Gaza, suggesting that a point may come where a “ruthless” approach is needed to secure the release of hostages held by Hamas. Trump stated, “At some point, you reach a point where you can’t get them out unless you become ‘energetic,’ or in other words, ‘ruthless.’” However, he emphasized negotiation as the preferred method, noting, “There are alternative ways to rescue the hostages; negotiation is the most normal way.”Trump acknowledged the complexity of the situation, describing the hostages as a “human shield” for Hamas and condemning the group’s actions on October 7. “There are several alternatives to what can be done in Gaza, but the best is to negotiate,” he said, while adding, “You can be violent.”
