Turkish FM discusses S-400 transfer to UAE, warns Israel against destabilizing Syria
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told The National that discussions are ongoing within the government about potentially transferring S-400 systems to the United Arab Emirates, but Russia must be part of the talks since the systems were purchased from Moscow. "There is a shared political will on the part of both presidents," he said, without naming a specific country or timeline. On US-Iran tensions, Fidan said Trump did not mean the ceasefire had ended, but was referring to the military response between the two countries. He cited a lack of communication regarding the Strait of Hormuz transition and called for better mechanisms to prevent escalation. Regarding Syria, Fidan warned that Israel's policy poses a risk to Syrian stability. "We are not sure that Israel wants to see a stable, strong, and developing Syria," he said, urging Israel to abandon its strategy of basing security on the insecurity and division of others.
