U.S. Envoy to Syria Warns Ahmad A-Shara “Change Course or Lose International Support”

U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack issued a blunt warning to Syrian President Ahmad A-Shara, urging him to “reassess his current path” following last week’s bloodshed in As-Suwayda, where over 1,300 people were killed in clashes between Druze and Bedouin militias. “He must pursue a more inclusive strategy or risk complete international abandonment and internal disintegration,” Barrack stated.
