Israel Arrests Three Residents for Alleged ISIS Terror Plot
Joint statement by the Shin Bet and Israel Police spokespersons: The Shin Bet and officers from the Coastal District arrested three suspects, residents of Ar’ara, who pledged allegiance to ISIS and planned to carry out terrorist activities in Israel. In a joint operation by the Shin Bet, Coastal District police officers, and the Menashe sector’s crime-fighting unit, three suspects—two adults and one minor, Israeli citizens from Ar’ara—were arrested on suspicion of intending to carry out terrorist activities on behalf of the “Islamic State” terrorist organization. During the investigation by the Shin Bet and the police, it emerged that in January, the three confronted Border Police officers, and following the clash, they contacted a foreign agent and decided to target Jews. The investigation further revealed that they received guidance from ISIS operatives in Syria on how to prepare explosive devices and even conducted a test explosion in an open area, with the intent to create a powerful explosive device to harm security forces.
