Freed hostage Ilana Gritzewsky: I was sexually assaulted in Gaza, but Hamas Didn’t Break Me
Captivity survivor Ilana Gritzewsky, partner of hostage Matan Zangauker, spoke at the Hostages Square in Tel Aviv during an event marking 600 days of the war: “I’m not the same person. I endured torture, interrogations, humiliation, hunger, and sexual assaults. I went through hell—but Hamas didn’t break me.” She added, “The testimonies about Matan break my heart. I haven’t stopped crying at night since. Matan is now held alone in depression in a tunnel, with a worsening muscular degenerative disease. He struggles to stand, can’t eat due to pain, and can’t hold a glass of water because of his tremors.”
