U.S. State Department Optimistic Over Syria Partition Plan

State Department spokesperson Tami Bruce said Secretary Marco Rubio is “optimistic and enthusiastic” about new negotiations to establish a formal boundary between the Druze-controlled Suwayda province and adjacent Bedouin areas. The proposal comes amid rising sectarian tensions and could represent a breakthrough toward stabilizing Syria’s south. Talks remain delicate, with no formal agreement yet.
