Israeli Defense Minister Threatens Escalation in Gaza

Defense Minister Israel Katz delivered a fiery statement Monday morning during a ceremony marking the demolition of buildings in Holon that were damaged by an Iranian missile during Operation “Am KeLavi.” Katz issued a renewed threat to Hamas, declaring: “If Hamas does not release the hostages — the gates of hell will open in Gaza.” Calling the conflict “more complex than anything we've faced before,” Katz said Israel was approaching decisive moments: “We are nearing the stages where decisions must be made. That is what leadership is — and we are responsible. Not the military advocate general, not anyone else.”
