Israel and U.S. Boycott UN Conference on Palestinian Statehood

The French-Saudi conference aimed at advancing a two-state solution officially opened this morning at the United Nations headquarters in New York. Both Israel and the United States have chosen to boycott the event and are not participating. In response, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, sharply criticized the conference, stating, “This conference does not advance a solution but deepens an illusion. Instead of demanding the release of hostages and working to dismantle Hamas’s terrorist rule, the organizers engage in discussions detached from reality.” The conference comes amid ongoing tensions and a lack of consensus on the path forward in the Israeli-Palestinian war.
