Israel to Lift “Special Home Front” Status in South
Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that he has accepted the IDF’s recommendation not to renew the “special situation” designation for the Home Front in southern Israel, a status that has been in place since Oct. 7. The designation will lapse tomorrow, marking the first time the measure will not be in force since the outbreak of the war. Katz said the decision reflects what he called “the new security reality in the south” achieved through sustained military operations over the past two years.
