Two Palestinians were killed and two others wounded after officers from the Jerusalem Yamás (undercover special operations unit) opened fire during a violent disturbance in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Qalandiya/‘Aqab. According to Israel Police, forces operated in the area overnight against hostile elements attempting to harm security personnel and spark violent unrest. During the operation, a large-scale riot erupted involving dozens of suspects who hurled stones, launched barrages of fireworks at the officers, and amid the chaos, heavy gunfire was heard nearby from an unidentified source. Police said the officers fired at four suspects who posed an immediate and serious threat to the force. The injured individuals were evacuated for medical treatment by local emergency teams.
