Iran Denies US Talks, Restricts Strait of Hormuz to Friendly Nations

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated there are no direct negotiations with the US, only messages exchanged through mediators. He called US negotiation efforts an "admission of defeat," questioning why Washington mobilized senior officials after previously demanding "unconditional surrender." Araghchi said Iran demands a permanent end to the war and compensation for destruction. He announced Iran allows only friendly countries—China, Russia, India, Iraq, and Pakistan—to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, stating there is no reason to permit enemies passage through the strategic waterway.
