Israeli strike hits heavy water nuclear facility in Arak, Iran

The Israeli Air Force struck the heavy water plant in Arak, central Iran, according to official Iranian sources. The facility produces heavy water used to operate nuclear reactors, including the inactive Arak reactor originally designed with weapons-grade plutonium production capabilities. Despite international commitments under the nuclear agreement, Iran avoided converting the reactor to prevent plutonium production. The plant was previously struck during Operation 'Rising Lion', and the IDF identified repeated reconstruction attempts by Iran, prompting the new strike. The facility generated tens of millions of dollars annually for the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization.
