IDF concludes inquiry into friendly fire death of civilian in Misgav Am

The IDF Chief of General Staff concluded an inquiry into the March 22, 2026 artillery incident that killed Ofer (Poshko) Moskovitz at Kibbutz Misgav Am. Five artillery shells fired from Israeli territory struck the kibbutz during an operation providing close support to maneuvering forces. The inquiry, led by Chief Artillery Officer BG Ehud Bibi, found the error resulted from converging operational factors and non-optimal firing conditions, but determined no negligence or ethical failure occurred. Ground Forces Commander MG Nadav Lotan ordered stricter operational directives for artillery fire over civilian areas. The Chief of General Staff accepted the findings and instructed implementation of all safety components without delay.
