Arab community criticizes Democratic Party over vote to disqualify Balad chairman from Knesset race

Criticism has emerged from within Israel's Arab community against the Democratic Party following its vote supporting the disqualification of Sami Abu Shehadeh, chairman of Balad, from running for Knesset. MK Ahmad Tibi told Radio Al-Nas: "It is impossible to understand in any way the shameful support of the Democratic Party for the request to disqualify the candidacy of Sami Abu Shehadeh. Yair Golan joined Ben Gvir, and this is a slap in the face to the entire Arab public." Social media responses on the Democratic Party's page reflected widespread discontent.
