After surviving what appears to have been an attempted terror attack aboard Fly Dubai flight FZ 1073, all 174 passengers returned home Wednesday evening. Upon landing, Magen David Adom paramedics evacuated a man in his 50s in light condition, suffering from minor injuries to his upper body, to Assaf Harofeh Medical Center. The remaining passengers did not require medical treatment.
One passenger described the scene after landing at Ben Gurion: "Everyone here is in crazy high spirits. Celebrating like mad. People in tears, crying tears of joy at the landing. I never imagined this would happen to me. We didn't think we'd manage to land. It was a miracle. Baruch Hashem."
"We felt the plane dropping at incredible speed and everyone's screams of terror. We didn't have time to think or speak or breathe. It was seconds," she recounted. "We were certain we would all die. I sent farewell messages to our parents. It was stressful beyond measure."
Mossayev Shota, who together with three other Israelis overpowered the co-pilot who carried out the stabbing, said: "The pilot was very badly wounded with very heavy bleeding from his head and hands. He was in very serious condition. I was the only doctor on the plane. I managed to stop the blood and the bleeding stopped completely. His condition was fairly stable, but deteriorated slightly at the last moment, just as we landed."
According to him, "We took control of the terrorist and tied him up, and of course he resisted but we succeeded. There were four of us who took control of the entire situation, and if not for that, we wouldn't be speaking with you now."
