A two-year-old child sustained moderate burns on Monday morning after a pot of boiling soup spilled on him in his home in Bnei Brak, according to rescue crews responding to the incident.
Magen David Adom paramedics Yossi Teitelbaum and Shimon Shamoni provided initial medical treatment at the scene. According to family members, the pot of soup spilled directly onto the child, causing burns to his upper body and limbs. After receiving emergency care at the scene, the child was transported to Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer, where his condition is listed as moderate.
The incident has prompted rescue officials to reiterate kitchen safety guidelines for families with young children. Magen David Adom is calling on households to enforce strict safety protocols during food preparation, particularly when cooking boiling liquids.
The organization emphasizes that young children and toddlers should be kept out of the kitchen during cooking activities. Scalding injuries from boiling water, soup, or other hot liquids can cause serious harm within seconds and are among the most common preventable household injuries affecting young children.
Rescue officials advised that families establish clear boundaries around cooking areas, keep young children supervised and at a safe distance from stoves and cooking surfaces, and ensure pots and pans are positioned with handles turned inward to prevent accidental contact or spilling onto nearby children.
