The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Wednesday that a missile fragment struck the Ramat David Airbase on Sunday evening, amid the recent escalation with Iran.
The Air Force is still investigating what exactly hit the base, though preliminary findings suggest it was interception debris. The fragment hit a non-operational area of the base used for storing forklifts and technical equipment. No equipment was damaged, and no injuries were reported in the incident.
The confirmation follows the analysis of satellite imagery published yesterday by the company Soar, which pointed to a potential strike on a hangar at the Ramat David Airbase during the latest escalation with Iran.
In an image captured on June 8, compared to an earlier image from June 5, a mark is visible in the area of the hangar, potentially indicating a hit. According to reports, the hangar is likely used for vehicle maintenance.
Five squadrons operate out of the Ramat David Airbase, including F-16 fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In recent years, the base has been a target of threats and intelligence-gathering attempts by Hezbollah, which included the publication of footage allegedly captured by a drone flying over the base.
