Hamas Finance Chief Mohammad Abu Alwan Eliminated

The IDF and Shin Bet struck a major blow against Hamas on Wednesday, eliminating Mohammad Abu Alwan in a precision operation in Khan Yunis. Abu Alwan held the critical position of head of the terror organization's finance department and was responsible for the financial pipeline that funded Hamas's terror activities throughout Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the elimination in a joint statement, praising IDF and Shin Bet forces for the precision operation and their ongoing efforts to thwart Israel's enemies.

"We continue to pursue Hamas commanders and operatives, strike at its funding sources, and destroy terror infrastructure," the statement read. "We will not allow Hamas to rebuild its strength and we will not stop until there is no Hamas in Gaza."

Abu Alwan's elimination represents a devastating blow to the terror organization's operational and economic capabilities. As head of the finance department, he was responsible for managing budgets, transferring funds, and financing Hamas's terror activities in Gaza. The strike is expected to disrupt the organization's ability to fund its operations and pay salaries to its terrorists.

The operation joins ongoing security establishment efforts to strike Hamas's leadership and terror infrastructure in the Strip. In recent weeks, IDF forces have continued operating with intensity against the organization's commanders, working to prevent it from rebuilding its strength and reorganizing.

Simultaneously, security forces continue extensive activity in Judea and Samaria. Overnight, Border Police undercover operatives in Judea and Samaria, directed by the Shin Bet, operated in the village of Qalqilya in the Samaria Brigade sector and arrested a wanted Fatah terror operative suspected of advancing terror activity against security forces.

The undercover operatives entered the village covertly and reached the compound where the suspect was staying. Forces surrounded the building and implemented a "pressure cooker" procedure, at the end of which the suspect emerged and surrendered to the fighters. He was arrested and transferred for further handling and interrogation by the Shin Bet.

The ongoing operational activity by security forces reflects the determination to prevent terror organizations from reorganizing and carrying out attacks. Abu Alwan's elimination marks another step in the chain of strikes against Hamas's leadership and terror infrastructure, while maintaining constant pressure on the organization and preventing its ability to rebuild its strength.
