Attorney Eran Ben-Ari, the newest recruit to Ofer Winter's party, appeared Sunday on Gal Israel radio and set out the party's position on the judicial system.
"The office of the attorney general needs to be split in two," Ben-Ari said. "One official will be a legal adviser serving the government with full trust, and the second role will be the state prosecutor."
On the High Court of Justice (Bagatz), he said: "We think the idea that Bagatz is both a first and final instance is problematic. A citizen or authority should have the right to appeal its decisions."
But he added that the immediate focus should be elsewhere. "Regardless of that, we are in a situation where ten justices will be appointed to the High Court in the coming term. That is very broad ground for reaching agreements, and every effort must be made to reach agreements on the appointment of justices. The appointments are the most critical thing there is."
