Fire and rescue teams from the Jerusalem district station were called Wednesday to a highly unusual traffic accident on de la Pergola Street in the Gilo neighborhood, where a private vehicle had careened off the road and plunged approximately five meters into a private garden below, landing upside down on its side.
Swift extraction from overturned vehicle
Firefighters worked immediately under emergency protocols to stabilize the vehicle and prevent further movement while extracting the driver, who was trapped inside the overturned car. After complex but rapid rescue operations, crews successfully pulled the woman from the inverted passenger compartment while she remained fully conscious. She was transferred directly to medical teams waiting at the scene, with her condition assessed as light to moderate.
Incident commander Reshef Omri Avraham described the scene: "Upon our arrival we observed a private vehicle overturned after plunging from a height of approximately five meters into a yard. We acted quickly and carefully to extract the trapped driver from inside the vehicle, and we are relieved that we were able to rescue her while conscious and transfer her for continued medical treatment."
