Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's surprise call to form a unity government has sparked fierce debate across Israel's media and political establishment. Channel 12 journalist Guy Peleg opened his 103FM radio show with a scathing personal commentary, launching a sharp attack on any possibility of political cooperation with Netanyahu.
"Suddenly they're talking about unity. Suddenly they're being generous. They, who claim they won. Such magnanimous people," Peleg began sarcastically. "Gentlemen, enough with the lies, the fraud, the false pretenses. There is no unity with the one who destroyed the state. There is no unity with the one responsible for the terrible disaster."
"He Must Be Expelled — For the Sake of Healing and Unity"
Peleg proceeded to list a series of harsh accusations against the prime minister's conduct and against the possibility of legitimizing sitting with him in government.
"There is no unity with someone who refuses to take responsibility, no unity with someone who refuses a state commission of inquiry, and no unity with someone who seeks the destruction of the justice system," the journalist charged. "No unity with someone who enables ignoring the president of the Supreme Court, no unity with someone who sows hatred, and no unity with someone who operates or has others operate in his name groups of civilian terror."
