65 Injured after Vehicle Plowed Into Liverpool Victory Parade, All the details
A driver plowed into a crowd during Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade, injuring dozens, including children, leading to an arrest for attempted murder and drug-related charges. Authorities are investigating the incident, which has shocked the community, but have ruled out terrorism as a motive.

On Monday evening, May 26, a horrific incident marred Liverpool’s Premier League title parade when a 53-year-old white British man from West Derby allegedly drove a dark grey Ford Galaxy minivan into a crowd, injuring 65 people, including four children, as reported by The Guardian and BBC News. The crash occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Water Street in Liverpool city center, near the end of a 10-mile victory parade celebrating Liverpool FC’s 20th top-flight title, attended by an estimated one million fans. Merseyside Police arrested the driver on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving while unfit through drugs, with the suspect remaining in custody for questioning.
Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims clarified that the incident is not being treated as terrorism, describing it as an isolated event. The vehicle reportedly followed an ambulance allowed through a roadblock to aid a man with a suspected heart attack. Social media footage captured the minivan weaving through unaware fans on Dale Street before accelerating onto Water Street, swerving into pedestrians. Four victims, including a child, were trapped under the vehicle and rescued by firefighters. Of the 65 casualties, 50 were treated at hospitals, with 11 remaining in stable condition, one child seriously injured but recovering.
Eyewitnesses described chaos, with crowds attempting to stop the vehicle, some prying open the driver’s door before it sped off again. Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the scenes “utter horror,” while King Charles expressed being “deeply shocked,” praising Liverpool’s community spirit. The Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, noted the tragedy’s impact on a “joyful celebration.” Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotherham urged the public to avoid speculation.
The incident, occurring during a bank holiday, has drawn comparisons to recent vehicle attacks in Europe, though police emphasized no terror motive. Liverpool FC and the Premier League expressed shock, offering support to victims. Merseyside Police continue investigating, appealing for witnesses to contact them or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111, as the city grapples with the aftermath of a day meant for celebration.
