A major anti-authoritarianism rally dubbed "No Kings," held in Washington, D.C. drew thousands of protesters opposing perceived monarchical tendencies in U.S. politics, particularly targeting President Donald Trump's administration and its policies.

The event, part of a broader wave of demonstrations with over 2,500 gatherings nationwide, focused on themes like democratic safeguards and resistance to executive overreach, echoing concerns about Trump's "Project 2025" agenda and Supreme Court rulings on presidential immunity.

However, the rally took an unexpected turn when speakers, including journalist Mehdi Hasan, incorporated sharp criticism of U.S. policy toward Israel and the Gaza conflict, leading some observers to label it as morphing into an anti-Israel march.

Hasan, the British-American founder of Zeteo media and former MSNBC host, delivered a fiery speech attacking Trump's Gaza plan, accusing the president of enabling "genocide" in Palestine and prioritizing Israeli interests over American ones. Palestinian flags were prominently displayed, and Hasan's remarks drew cheers from the crowd but also ignited controversy online.

The Palestine focus was entirely irrelevant to the rally's core message, and many accused organizers of co-opting the event for broader leftist causes. But, of course, Hasan didn't care about that or about the issues people had come out to protest against.

Everything is about Palestine these days.
