“That’s the Jew in You”: Real Estate Broker Accused of Antisemitic Messages

A Connecticut man is accusing a local real estate representative of making antisemitic remarks during a written exchange that followed an in-person interaction involving company business cards and discussion of the firm’s real estate operations. According to screenshots reviewed by JFeed, the exchange began after a dispute over a printer sale, but the conversation escalated into remarks about Jews, money, and business relationships.

The 37 Year old Jewish Professional, said the man, who identified as Anthony, had previously given him multiple business cards from his real estate company and discussed the company’s owners, properties, sales areas, lead sources, and client profile. "I understood the interaction as including a professional and company-related component, not merely a private sale", the Jewish man added.

In the later written exchange, Anthony wrote that the Israeli born resident of Connecticut, would “rather lose a relationship over a few dollars,” adding that this was “just your guys nature, I try to avoid dealing with people like you” He then wrote that he had “no interest in working with you in any capacity in the future”.

“I did not realize immediately where this was going, but sooner rather than later, it became clear,” he told JFeed.

Following this, messages included statements such as “that’s the Jewish in you,” “you guys have no interest in building a future or relationship,” “you’re a typical Jew,” and “you’re cheap, you care only about being cheap.”

The comments were not ordinary insults, but antisemitic statements that connected Jewish identity to cheapness, lack of business integrity, and unfitness for future professional dealings.

“This was not simply a rude private message,” said the man, who prefers to remain anonymous at this stage. “He had presented himself through a real estate company, handed me company business cards, and discussed the company’s business. Then he used classic antisemitic stereotypes”.

The incident raises potential concerns about professional conduct in the real estate industry, especially because real estate professionals are expected to comply with fair-housing norms and avoid discriminatory treatment or language connected to race, religion, ethnicity, or national origin.

Jfeed can report the the Jewish individual is considering notifying the company, its broker or manager, and appropriate licensing or civil-rights authorities.

“This kind of language has no place in business. A person who invokes Jewish identity as an insult in a business context should be held accountable”, he concluded.
