Regional Escalation

Houthis Strike Riyadh, Saudi Oil Facility

Iran-backed group fires missiles and drones at capital and Aramco site, widening regional conflict to a country Israel hopes to normalize with

Houthis | Bin Salman

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarie announced that the Iran-backed group fired ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones at a sensitive target in Riyadh and an Aramco facility in Yanbu on Saudi Arabia's western coast, according to open-source intelligence reports.

Sarie warned that any Saudi aggression toward Yemen would be met with a suitable response, and any escalation with escalation. The strikes mark a significant widening of regional tensions to a country Israel has pursued normalization with. The Houthis have repeatedly fired on Israel throughout the current conflict, and Saudi Arabia recently restarted a major oil pipeline after a previous Houthi attack knocked it offline.
